If your client employed fewer than 250 employees on 30 November 2021 and paid Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) to their employees for coronavirus related sickness absences, they could be eligible for support. They can reclaim up to 2 weeks’ SSP paid to their employees, at the relevant standard weekly rate of £96.35, for any periods of coronavirus-related sickness from 21 December 2021.
This is a new claims period, which means your client will be able to reclaim costs for up to two weeks of SSP for an employee who takes time off because of coronavirus. This is regardless of whether they claimed for that employee under the previous scheme. You can make claims on behalf of your client and more information is available on eligibility and how to make a claim.
